ARTIFACTS 2 – The Beatles
Ropey quality at times but some interesting things here such demo’s and xmas fan club singles. Great early take of We Can Work It Out.

A perfect album. Up there with "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Abbey Road" in terms of production too.

Too bad he doesn't really have any others that are as incredible. (The one immediately after -- "Fulfillingness' First Finale" -- is surprisingly dull.)

Sun Araw : "In Orbit"

Sun Araw : "Leaves Like These"

I'm a lover of all things Sun Araw but I'm not sure I have these ones. What are they on? I've got a burn of Phynx but hardly play it, much prefer Beach Head, Heavy Deeds and On Patrol.

My listening pleasures:

Grinderman - Grinderman 2, new in the post on Sat so have only a quick run through, sounds good and dirty with evil noises all over it.

Sabres Of Paradise - Haunted Dancehall
Two Lone Swordsmen - Tiny Reminders
Rolling Stones - Beggars Banquet
F*ck Buttons - Tarot Sport

Stripped a bedroom of wallpaper yesterday with the ipod on shuffle and 70+ treats came blasting out - Gene Vincent, VU, Kinks, Small Faces, Funkadelic, Vetiver, Johnny Cash, Bonnie Prince Billy, Billy Paul, Stones, Pixies, plus many more !! (as they say in Mojo).....the only time I skipped was when Joanna Newsom came on and unsettled the paper stripping zone I was in.

Simon & Garfunkel - Sounds Of Silence (original mono mix - dig the heavy bassline at the start of 'Somewhere They Can't Find Me')

The Rolling Stones - Their Satanic Majesties Request (annoyingly jumpy copy, albeit in lenticular sleeve)

Various - Club Folk 1

Elvis Presley - loads of stuff, gorging myself on both the genius and the crap, but there is pleasure to be had in both if you're in the right mood

Vaughan Williams - Symphonies 6 & 8 (10p from a car boot sale. Liked no.6, no.8 didn't really grab me)

Gustav Holst - Somerset Rhapsody

Wings - Wild Life (always thought this was a bit rubbish, but played it again after reading Macca interview in Mojo and quite liked it)

Yes - Tormato (love the rippling guitar that is all over the last few tracks)

The Doors - Strange Days

Hugh Cornwell - Hooverdam

That seemed to be the general consensus re FFF, but I always thought ti was under-rated myself. Not heard it in a long time, mind...

Budgie - Never Turn Your Back On A Friend
Yay! Breadfan!

Serpentina Satelite - Mecanica Celeste
Utterly fab. Heard it first on Dave 3000's radio show, so thanks for introducing me to this Dave! Can't stop listening to it. Amazing LP cover too. If you like White Hills this'll be right up your street.

Double Leopards - Halve Maen (?)
Thanks machinery elf! Haven't managed to listen to all of this yet, but what I've heard is really good.

Deutsche Elektronische Musik - Various
From the library. Really rather a good selection. It's got me listening to as much Harmonia as I can find.

High Wolf - Shangri L.A.
Still sounding amazing to me. Transports me every time.

Mark McGuire - Tidings/Amethyst Waves
Improving with further listening. Gorgeous shimmering guitars.

Kate Bush - Red Shoes
Lily is a truly amazing, magical song.

London Chamber Orchestra - Minimalist
From library. A really beautiful collection this. I need to listen more, but first impressions are very good.

Focus - Moving Waves, Hamburger Concerto, Live at the Rainbow
After seeing them live last week I've enjoyed revisiting all these.

Glad you're enjoying it, it's on my list this week along with

Kris Force & Jarboe - The Path soundtrack to a modern day little red riding hood with a nod to A Company Of wolves. Not for everyone but if you feel the need for some overwrought american gothic you could do worse

Neil Young After The goldrush/Harvest/Another 4 Way Street/Time Fades Away Tour 73

Gateful Dead - Workingmans Dead and a bunch of Winterland 74 shows

Pink Fairies - Neverland

Black Flag - Wasted Years/Damage/Process of Weeding Out

Faust Is Last

Nuggets - the 4cd box, everyone a gem, about to start on the British set which whilst it loses out on the classics makes up for with the strange IIRC
special mention for '7&7 is' which shines even in this company, must dust off those Love LPs

AMM - Live found some live downloads which I much prefer to AMMusic , still not the easist of listens though.
