Songs Of Protest And Anti Protest
This message is from Bobby Jameson/Chris Lucey,
First off thanks to Dave Furgess for his thoughtful remarks regarding the Chris Lucey album, and a special thanks for mentioning “Vietnam”.
The cover is Brian Jones (stones) shot in L.A. in 65 at the old action club on Santa Monica Blvd..
A lot of people conclude erroneously that Chris Lucey and Love have
many similarities, but in fact these would be coincedental. Chris Lucey was written and recorded by me in a couple of weeks and I did not know Arthur Lee at the time and had never heard his music. I did meet him after Chris Lucey and did copy him, but it was on “Color Him In”. If you listen to “The New Age” you’ll hear that I was imitating Arthur’s vocal on “Little Red Book”.
“I’ll Remember Them” on the Lucey record had no lyrics so what you hear is what I made up in the studio while recording the song. 1‑take, 1
song. “I Got The Blues” was written by my brother William Jameson and Bruce Hines an old friend who was “Crazy Horse’s” first roadie. “That’s The Way The World Has Got To Be” part 2 was also written by my brother Bill. All others were written by me to titles already printed on the albumjackets, which initially was “Chris Ducey”. I was hired to rewrite and record a new album so Surrey Records could meet it’s release date afterhaving a contract dispute with Ducey.
Thanks again to Dave Furgesss,
Bobby Jameson/ Chris Lucey
