New CD News and More…

Oct 7, 2000ce

Well, Julian’s tour started on Thursday and many of you have kindly emailed us to let us know how much you enjoyed the Glasgow shows. For the last couple of months, Julian has been walking the Downs for 10 miles each day and rehearsing for hours with Donald Ross Skinner, so he is Ready to Rock – and from what I hear, the shows have gone way over the advertised 100 minutes. As for us here at Head Heritage, the last couple of weeks have been extremely hectic with final tour preparations so apologies for not keeping you informed about what is happening with the new CD.

The Audience with the Cope 2000 CD is now available through the Merchandiser, and a real gem it is, too. For all of you “Safesurfer” and “Starcar” guitar freak-out fans (and I’m one of them), the heavenly wail of “The Glam Dicenn (Parts 1–4)” will not disappoint. There is something for everyone on this CD – the Krautrocky sounding “Ill Informer”, the classic Cope sound of “Holy Mother of God” and the rock stomp of “Born to Breed”. Webmaster Supremo Chris has set up a page for you to read more about it and hear some audio links – and he himself has given it the big thumbs up, so it must be great!

Head Heritage is still waiting for its delivery of the two new t‑shirts and Modern Antiquarian windcheater. We should have them in by late next week. These items are, however, available now at the Head Heritage Merchandise stall on the tour. And don’t forget to pick up Kakalog 6 while you’re there.

We’ve finally got some videos (both PAL and NTSC) of The Modern Antiquarian BBC2 programme. For ages, Julian has wanted to set up the SEC Library and this is just the right thing to start us off. If you are interested in borrowing a video, email me and I’ll arrange it. The only charge we will ask you for is to cover postage, and we will have to take a deposit (either by cheque or credit card) which will be returned to you once the video has been returned to us. After the success of this programme, Julian has already been offered another one – and that’s really no surprise. He may not like the medium very much, but he’s very good with it.

I hope you’ve managed to read Merrick’s reports on Prague. If I wrote everything I really feel about how much I admire Merrick, I’m sure it would embarrass him – but let’s just say that I feel we are very fortunate to have him contributing to this site. Did you know that his book Battle for the Trees has been featured in The Penguin Book of Twentieth Century Protest? If you haven’t read Merrick’s account of the Newbury bypass protest, you really must (available right here through our Merchandiser).

That’s all for now. For those of you that are going to see Julian, I hope you have a wonderful time. I know he’s really enjoying being out there singing for you.

Love from JoAnne
