The Verve

She’s A Superstar

If stranded on a desert island, this is one of the songs I would choose, alongside “Daybreak” (Maurice Ravel), “Feel So Sad” (Spiritualized), “I Believe In You” (Talk Talk), and “Sirens” (Claude Debussy).

Nine minutes of cosmic awe. Thunderous, skyscraping, spine-tingling outro which makes your mind soar.

“She’s A Superstar” is my favorite guitar performance of all time.

The B‑side “Feel” is a ten minute late night dreamscape.

The Verve summon a sense of mystical wonder here elevated by an unparalleled emotional depth.
